Rodrigo has over 20 years of mechanical engineering experience spanning HVAC design, building utilities, and automation systems for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and other regulated facilities. His technical skill set includes psychrometric analysis, space pressurization strategies, ventilation and humidity control, and the sizing and routing of ductwork, piping, and utility distribution systems. He has extensive experience designing systems for chilled water, glycol, heating hot water, plumbing and drainage, steam and condensate, compressed air, and natural gas applications.
He is also highly experienced in Building Automation Systems, including instrumentation and controls, I/O architecture, network controllers, and the integration of HVAC and utility equipment into modern control platforms. His background includes developing specifications, authoring design documentation, and producing drawings such as zoning plans, pressurization diagrams, P&IDs, and airflow diagrams.
Across the project lifecycle, Rodrigo supports feasibility studies, conceptual and detailed design, cost estimating, scheduling, construction coordination, and commissioning and qualification of HVAC, mechanical, and BAS systems. He frequently performs engineering assessments, system troubleshooting, and field investigations within operating GMP environments, working closely with maintenance, operations, quality, and construction teams.
In addition to his technical contributions, Rodrigo has a strong leadership background. He has managed mechanical engineering departments, supervised junior and senior engineers and designers, overseen resource planning and forecasting, and supported recruitment and staff development. His leadership approach focuses on clear communication, team alignment, and building the capabilities of engineering teams to deliver high quality, compliant, and reliable design solutions.
